Strengthening our profession.
We want to be sure that everyone who has the talent and the desire to be an actuary also has the opportunity. Right now, African-American, Hispanic and Native American communities are underrepresented. To ensure that our profession is as dynamic and multi-dimensional as possible, we’ve created the Joint CAS/SOA Committee on Actuarial Diversity. It’s the committee’s mission to recruit quality mathematical and analytical talent from all backgrounds and perspectives.
To do this, we actively support:
- Summer actuarial programs for high school students so students can get comfortable with the profession.
- Reimbursements for qualified minority students who pass either of their first two exams.
- Mentoring opportunities for those who want more guidance on what it takes to be a professional in today’s economy.
