High School Summer Actuarial Programs
The Joint CAS/SOA Committee on Actuarial Diversity sponsors university-run summer programs for minority high school students interested in math and actuarial science at Illinois State University, Howard University, Morgan State University and West Chester University.
Lebanon Valley College has had a successful actuarial science program for more than 40 years, and has run an actuarial summer camp for more than two decades. The Lebanon Valley College programs have open enrollment and desire a very diverse student population.
By participating in a high school summer actuarial program, you can learn about the actuarial science career and connect with professors and industry professionals that can offer invaluable advice about majors and careers.
In addition to gaining an understanding of what actuaries do in the insurance and financial services industries, you can experience campus life while you develop important contacts with actuaries and organizations that provide scholarships, internships, summer jobs, and mentors to help guide your career.
Is your college or university interested in starting a summer actuarial program?
The committee has created best practices and recommendations for starting a High School Summer Actuarial Program at your college or university.
